Mom, colleague mourn Marky Cielo's death

MANILA, Philippines - The grief-stricken mother of Marky Cielo and a colleague shed tears as they talked about the 20-year-old actor who died in his sleep in Antipolo before dawn Sunday. Marky's mother Mildred said that she hoped that her son was able to leave a lasting legacy to his fans and those who worked with him. "Sana sa maiksing panahon na nakatrabaho niyo siya, na napanood niyo siya, sana nakapag- iwan siya ng magandang loob, ng magandang aral Sana nakabigay siya ng magandang inspiration...,"Marky's mom said. She was interviewed by Sis' Carmina Villaruel, a colleague in GMA-7. The interview was aired Monday on QTV's Balitanghali. Villaruel told Marky's mom that the young actor "touched" many lives and that he was a good man and a true professional. "We will really miss you (Marky). Sa lahat ng mga nakasama niyo sa Codename Asero, sa La Lola, sa Fantatikids. Sa lahat ng nakatrabaho mong direktor napakabait mong tao... very professional, very talented... marami pong na-touch si Marky,"Villaruel said. Emotions were high and tears were shed during the interview. “Mapagmahal siya na anak, kaya siya mabait kasi nagmamahal siya sa amin. Hindi siya gumagawa ng mga kalokohan (He’s a loving and kind son)," Mildred said in the Balitanghali report. In the report, Mildred said during the past few days she noticed that Marky looked tired and stressed. This prompted her to assume that Marky might be nursing personal problems. "Stressed siya, siguro meron din siyang personal problem (He was stressed out. Maybe he has personal problems," she said. But knowing her boy’s personality, Mildred said Marky would opt to keep problems to himself if he knew it would cause his parents to worry. “Kung alam niyang mag wo-worry ako, kung alam niyang mamomroblema ako, hindi niya sinasabi inaako na lang niya (If he knows I’ll worry he would choose to keep the problem to himself)," the sobbing mother said. Mildred added she hopes Marky could help them cope with bereavement now that he’s passed away. Marky, 20, was found dead by Mildred inside his room in their house in Antipolo. The cause of death, however, remains to be determined. An initial report says that Marky died in his sleep. The family was still waiting for the autopsy results before releasing official statement on his death. During the short span of time that Marky worked as an actor, Mildred expressed hopes that her son was able to impart good deeds to his co-workers and fans. Marky, who known for his dancing abilities, was a product of GMA-7's StarStruck Batch 3, where he won as the "Ultimate Sole Survivor." The Butuan native was the first Igorot from Baguio City to join the popular reality-based artista search. Among his batchmates were Iwa Moto, Jackie Rice, and Gian Carlo. After winning in StarStruck he officially joined show business. He appeared in several GMA-7 shows which included Encantadia, Fantastikids, Bakekang, Asian Treasures, Boys Next Door, Kaputol ng Isang Awit, and Codename: Asero. But he was best known as Zaido Green in Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan. He was also a mainstay of the musical-variety show SOP and in the primetime series La Lola.
