Lacson bares attempt to sabotage Dec. 12 interfaith rally

MANILA, Philippines — Opposition Senator Panfilo Lacson on Tuesday warned of a possible attempt to sabotage the massive interfaith rally to denounce the controversial bid to amend the Constitution. Lacson issued the warning saying that he has been informed that yellow t-shirts bearing his old campaign logo were reportedly distributed in Mandaluyong City days before the anti-Charter change rally in Makati City . Lacson called the distribution of the shirts -- which he said bore images of a clenched fist similar to his campaign logo in 2004 -- as a possible attempt to sabotage Friday's rally. "While I am attending the anti Cha-cha rally on Friday, I have not imposed a supposed dress code on my supporters, much less wear such shirts," he said in statement posted on the Senate website. Lacson suspects that the distribution of shirts at Addition Hills village in Mandaluyong City last Friday may be intended to disrupt the rally, and pin the blame on him. He also expressed fears that those wearing the shirts may make trouble during a protest action so he would be blamed as a “destabilizer." "To whoever is behind this, your style is as rotten as this administration. I am exposing this now just so people will be aware of your dirty tricks," he said. - Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV
