Fans' caring for Marky Cielo makes ma proud

MANILA, Philippines – Despite her bereavement, the mother of Marky Cielo said she felt "victorious" on realizing her son's success. In an interview with GMA’s Showbiz Central, Mildred Cielo said the positive comments of the people whose lives Marky had touched made her a very proud mother. "Nalulungkot ako na aalis na siya," said. "Pero masasabi ko pa rin na pagkatapos ng na-witness ko sa buong walong araw sa pagbabantay sa kanya sa mga humahanga sa kanya, tulong na rin siuguro sa mga prayers, ako’y ma-miss ko man si Marky ako’y parang very victorious. Ako’y very, very proud na ina." [Translation: "I’m saddened by his leaving, but all I can say is, after everything I’ve witnessed during the eight days I was watching over his wake, I felt victorious. He made me a proud mother.] Marky (Mark Angelo Cadaweng Cielo in real life) died December 10. He was a product of GMA's StarStruck Batch 3, where he won as the "Ultimate Sole Survivor." He was the first Igorot from Baguio City to join the popular reality-based talent search. Among his batchmates were Iwa Moto, Jackie Rice, and Gian Carlo. Mildred said her greatest memory of Marky would be his selflessness. "Siguro ‘yung lagi nasasabi ng mga kasama niya, yung inuuna niya kami, ‘yung sobrang niyang mapagmahal sa amin kami ‘yung inaalala, inaalagagan niya bago ‘yung sarili niya," she said. [Translation: "As friends always say, he always puts others first. He loves us so much and he takes care of us first before he thinks of himself."] The grief-stricken mother managed to thank everybody who supported and prayed for the young actor. Mrs. Cielo said she and her family would stay in the province even after Marky’s burial. She said they would wait until they’re done with all the necessary customs. Marky will be laid to rest on Monday in his own backyard in Bauko, Mountain Province. - Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV
