P'foods welcomes back Adducul with win vs TNT

MANILA, Philippines - Nelbert Omolon scored 28 points and the Sta. Lucia Realtors took advantage of an injury-riddled Coca-Cola Tigers team to win 90-69 in the KFC Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum. Joseph Yeo came off the bench to chip in 14 points and starting guard Paolo Mendoza added 12 for the Realtors who raised their record to 9-8 and clung to a slim chance at making the semifinals outright. The Tigers were without their one-two punch of Asi Taulava and Alex Cabagnot. Taulava (fractured finger) did not suit up as did Nic Belasco (sprain ankle). Cabagnot, who was in uniform, was reportedly with a flu. Coke fell to ninth place with a 6-11 record. Only Red Bull's card to 5-11 is worse. In the second game, Purefoods used the presence of Rommel Adducul as an emotional lift in the Giants' 96-93 victory over the Talk N Text Tropang Texters. The Giants (8-9) were down 72-63 after three quarters but led by Rico Villanueva, they erased that deficit and went ahead 94-93 with 14.4 seconds left. Hoping to foul and stop the clock, Talk N Text let Purefoods get away with a Villanueva dunk as the Giants made it 96-93 with 5.8 seconds. Harvey Carey's missed three-pointer did the Texters (9-7) in. Adducul was reactivated by Purefoods after the big man underwent cancer treatment since he announced his illness earlier this year. James Yap led Purefoods with 25 points, while Mark Cardona finished with 30 to top Talk N Text. - GMANews.TV
