'Ulysses' maintains strength, nears Catanduanes

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical storm "Ulysses" maintained its strength as it moved towards eastern Luzon Monday, the weather forecasters said Monday afternoon.
In its 5 p.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said "Ulysses" was estimated at 600 kilometers East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes as of 2 p.m., packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
"The whole country will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms," the weather bureau said.
So far, no typhoon signals have been raised.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
Light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast and northwest will prevail over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms. - Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV
