Gordon: Bolante witness scared to testify

MANILA, Philippines - A witness in the P728-million fertilizer scam has relayed to Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Richard Gordon fears of being killed if he or she testifies in the mess. Gordon told a Senate hearing Monday afternoon he had talked to the witness, who he described as "nanginginig (shaking in fear)." "Kanina kausap ko isang testigo sa Bolante. Nanginginig siya, baka raw siya patayin (I talked to a witness in the Bolante mess. The witness was shaking in fear and fearing for his/her life)," he said. He did not elaborate. The Senate will resume on Wednesday its investigation into the fertilizer fund mess, a week after it allowed former agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn Bolante to go home. - GMANews.TV
