Arroyo to visit Sarangani Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines РPresident Arroyo is set to visit Sarangani province in southern Philippines Wednesday to lead the inauguration of a seaport in Glan town. This will be her second visit in the province this month. A Malaca̱ang statement said President Arroyo would also visit an elementary school in Maasim town to inspect an emergency employment project of the Department of National Defense (DND). Maasim town is one of the several towns in Mindanao that was simultaneously attacked by Moro rebels last August, the statement said. Also in Sarangani, President Arroyo is expected to join other dignitaries and celebrities for the 30th birthday celebration of Filipino boxing icon Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao, who defeated Mexican slugger Oscar de la Hoya last December 7 in Las Vegas. President Arroyo visited Sarangani last December 4 to inspect an P80-million road project linking Glan to the town of Jose Abad Santos in Davao del Sur, a major component of the Jose Abad Santos, Glan, Sarangani Cooperation Triangle. The statement described JAGS CT as an emerging economic corridor that has been opened and expected to boost trade between the Philippines and neighboring Indonesian towns. - Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV
