Bolante visits family, allies in Capiz hometown - report


MANILA, Philippines - Controversial former Agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn "Joc-joc" Bolante paid an early Christmas visit to his relatives and allies in his hometown in Capiz province, the online news site The News Today reported on Wednesday. Bolante attended "family affairs" in Capiz and returned to Metro Manila on December 22, the the Visayas-based news site said. "As political allies of Joc-joc, we let him relax first and meet with his family," Tabby Blanco, a political ally of Bolante, said. Blanco said they were keeping their distance from Bolante until the resolution of his case in the Senate. Bolante is tagged as the brains of the P728-million fertilizer fund scam. The report cited reliable sources who said Bolante attended the Christmas party of town officials and employees of Dao at the Escutin Eco Park Friday afternoon. It said Bolante also met with incumbent Dao Mayor Joselito "Bobo" Escutin and his father, former mayor Ernie Escutin, and some elected officials. Bolante reportedly thanked the Dao officials for their moral support. Earlier, former Capiz governor Jose "Ting" Borda, one of the political allies of Bolante, said the former undersecretary will run for representative in the first district of Capiz. - GMANews.TV
