72-year-old woman injured in firecracker blast


MANILA, Philippines - A 72-year-old woman in Iloilo province became one of the early statistics of firecracker injuries, a radio report said Thursday evening. Visayas-based Bombo Radyo reported that the victim, Gloria Sta. Cruz, sustained third-degree burns in her body after the incident in Cagbang village in Oton town. The report said the victim instructed her husband to fill a fountain firecracker with gunpowder. The man did so and suddenly the pyrotechnics exploded, its fragments hitting Gloria. She was rushed to the Western Visayas Medical Center for treatment. - GMANews.TV
