Magnitude-4.7 earthquake hits parts of Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines – A 4.7-magnitude earthquake rocked parts of Mindanao before noon Tuesday, state seismologists said. No casualties and damages to infrastructure were reported as a result of the tremor. In its advisory, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake occurred around 11:20 a.m. and was felt at Intensity II in Banga town in South Cotabato province, Tacurong in Sultan Kudarat, and Malita, Davao del Sur. The earthquake, meanwhile, was felt at Intensity I in General Santos City and in Matan-ao town, Davao del Sur. Phivolcs added that the quake was of tectonic origin, with its epicenter located at 158 kilometers southeast of General Santos City.
