Report: Boy dies in Bulacan fireworks factory blast

MANILA, Philippines - A nine-year-old boy was killed in an explosion at an abandoned fireworks factory in Bulacan province Friday afternoon, a radio report said Saturday. Bombo Radyo cited a report by Bulacan provincial commander Senior Superintendent Allen Bantolo that the incident occurred at San Ildefonso town in Bulacan at about 3:30 p.m. He identified the fatality as Ar-Jay Laurente, a resident of the town. Initial investigation showed the boy was scavenging for garbage inside the factory when the explosion believed caused by unused gunpowder dumped there occurred. Police have started an investigation into the incident, saying the owner of the abandoned factory may be held liable for negligence. - GMANews.TV
