Pangandaman apologizes anew for golf course brawl

MANILA, Philippines - Agrarian reform secretary Nasser Pangandaman Sr. apologized anew to the public after his sons exchanged charges with a golfer and his family over an altercation last Dec. 26. However, Pangandaman insisted his sons did not instigate the mess at the Valley Golf and Country Club with Delfin dela Paz and his son. "I'd like to extend my apologies to the public for the unfortunate incident. (But) it was not my sons who instigated the incident," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. Pangandaman's two sons filed charges before the Antipolo City prosecutor's office against Dela Paz and his son, who earlier in the morning lodged charges against them and three bodyguards. On the other hand, the agrarian reform secretary accepted the six-month suspension slapped on him and the elder Dela Paz by Valley Golf and Country Club management. "SOP ng kahit anong golf course yan, preventive suspension habang iniimbestiga ang nangyari (That is the standard operating procedure of any golf course. It is preventive suspension while an investigation is ongoing)," he said. On the other hand, Pangandaman asked the public to let the law take its course, and asked bloggers to take it easy on him and his sons. "For the meantime ako nakikiusap maraming nababasa sa blog, tigilan lang ito, masyadong masakit sa aming pamilya (For the meantime, I appeal to bloggers to stop hitting us. It hurts, my family hurts)," he said. - GMANews.TV
