Fresh fighting erupts in Sarangani - report

MANILA, Philippines - Fighting between government troops and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels erupted anew in Sarangani province Thursday, a radio report said. Radio dzBB's Benjie Liwanag quoted Eastern Mindanao Command spokesman Maj. Randolph Cabangbang as saying that the encounter started after elements of the Army's 73rd Infantry Division conducting combat patrol operations in Maasim town ran into at least 16 members of the MILF. Cabangbang said as of posting time, the firefight is still ongoing. There are, however, still no reported cases of casualties or injuries, Cabangbang said. - Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV
