Quakes hit Mindanao, North Luzon - USGS


MANILA, Philippines - Two quakes rocked the Mindanao and Northern Luzon areas Sunday afternoon, but no casualty nor damage was reported. The first quake was recorded at magnitude 4.7, and took place at 3:12 p.m., the United States Geological Service (USGS) said. USGS traced the epicenter to 75 km east-northeast of Surigao, 120 km south-southeast of Guiuan, Samar; or 135 km north-northeast of Butuan, Mindanao; or 755 km southeast of Manila. A second quake measuring magnitude 4.8 was recorded at 4:15 p.m. with the epicenter at 135 km north-northeast of Laoag, Ilocos Norte. It said the epicenter of the second quake was also 150 km south-southwest of Basco, Batanes; 515 km north of Manila; or 640 km south of Taipei, Taiwan. - GMANews.TV
