DTI helps DOE inspect LPG supplies in provinces

MANILA, Philippines - Upon the request of the Energy department, the Trade department has started helping inspect liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplies in the provinces. Trade Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya said Monday they are also checking reports that LPG tanks sold in some areas in Mindanao had been jacked up to as high as P700 per tank. "We are working with them dahil humihingi ng tulong si Secretary Reyes dahil wala silang opisina sa probinsya. Ang pag-monitor at pagtingin humihingi ng tulong at tayo ay tumutulong sa DOE para tumingin dito," Maglaya said over radio dzBB. ["We are working with the Energy department on the request of Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes because they have no personnel in the provinces."] She said the DTI's work is mainly to check on supply of LPG while the job of checking price and supply of the commodity is the job of the DOE. On the other hand, Maglaya said they will check reports that LPG tanks are being sold at prices as high as P700 per tank especially in Basilan and Sulu provinces. "Yan naman sobrang taas naman [That is just too high]," she said. - GMANews.TV
