Indian faces trial for attacking Pinoy worker

MANILA, Philippines - An Indian construction worker stood trial before a court of first instance in Dubai Sunday for "attempt to murder" for battering a Filipino co-worker last year.

Online news site Khaleej Times reported Monday that the Indian worker, who was not named in the report, allegedly tried to batter the Filipino's head with a metal rod.

The incident occurred at their labor accommodations in Jebel Ali area on Sept. 16 last year.

The Filipino, who was also not named in the report, suffered 80 percent permanent disability and cannot walk without help.

Court records showed the Filipino had just gone to bed in the afternoon when the Indian allegedly attacked him. - GMANews.TV
