Report: floods hit villages at foot of Mayon Volcano

MANILA, Philippines — Flash floods hit and affected several villages at the foot of Mayon Volcano in Albay province, a radio report said Tuesday. Bombo Radyo reported that residents in Purok 1 in Barangay Bonga in Bacacay town were surprised over the quick rise of floodwaters. Many residents said the floods went above waist level, damagingg rice crops in the area. Floods also snarled traffic along the national highway, the report said. Albay Provincial Disaster Management Officer Cedric Daep ordered an ocular inspection of the affected areas. - GMANews.TV
