Police: Chinese trader abducted in Sulu

MANILA, Philippines - A Chinese businessman was abducted Monday afternoon by still unidentified suspects in southern Philippines, a police official said. Superintendent Danilo Bacas, police operations chief of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), identified the victim as Dionghan Que. He said Que was kidnapped at about 5:45 p.m. in Barangay (village) Kakuyagan in Jolo, Sulu. Bacas said a top-down Tamaraw jeep used in the kidnapping was recovered by responding policemen at km. 4 in Barangay Tagbak in Indanan town. Sulu is a known stomping ground of the notorious Abu Sayyaf group, which has been responsible for a series of high-profile abductions in the past. Some of their past victims were foreigners. The Abu Sayyaf is currently holding captive three International Committee on the Red Cross (ICRC) volunteers in the province. - GMANews.TV
