Palace to take up fuel prices in cabinet meet

MANILA, Philippines - The high prices in the country of fuel will be tackled in Tuesday's Cabinet meeting, senior Malacañang officials said. Radio dzXL reported that press secretary Cerge Remonde said they will discuss at Tuesday's meeting if present prices of fuel reflect world prices of the commodity. On the other hand, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) head Ralph Recto hinted that government may pressure oil firms into lowering the prices of their products. He cited figures from NEDA indicating prices of fuel products should be as low as P23/liter at this time. Earlier, militant transport groups said they are planning transport protests to push for the removal of oil deregulation, to bring down prices of liquefied petroleum gas. - GMANews.TV
