Samar ex-mayor killed in ambush - report

MANILA, Philippines - A former mayor of Catubig town in Northern Samar was killed in an ambush staged by unidentified armed men, a radio report said Tuesday night. Bombo Radyo reported that assailants attacked the victim, Saesar "Sase" Vicencio, after a meeting of the association of barangay captains that he headed. Initial investigation showed he succumbed to gunshot wounds in the chest and stomach. He was rushed to the Catarman provincial hospital but died after a few minutes. Vicencio's widow Tina is the incumbent mayor of Catubig town. His father was a former congressman representing the province's second district. - GMANews.TV
