Hillary Clinton agreed to visit RP - Palace exec

MANILA, Philippines - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has accepted President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s invitation to visit the Philippines, a Malacañang official said Sunday. Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Lorelei Fajardo made the announcement on government-run radio DZRB Sunday morning during an interview. According to Fajardo, Mrs. Arroyo invited Mrs. Clinton during their 30-minute meeting at the Treaty Room of the US State Department, which capped the President’s working visit to the US capital city. Fajardo said Mrs. Clinton accepted the invitation and promised to check her schedule. The former US first lady is scheduled to visit Asia, specifically China, Japan and Malaysia, for the first time as Secretary of State, in the next two weeks. During their meeting, Mrs. Clinton has committed to Mrs. Arroyo that the good relations between the Philippines and the US will be strengthened and deepened under the administration of US President Barrack Obama. Fajardo said the meeting was “more than a social meeting" because Mrs. Arroyo and Mrs. Clinton also tackled the Mindanao peace process and the current economic crisis. - GMANews.TV
