MANILA, Philippines - Expecting to make a killing during the occasion, flower vendors in Manila and cabbies near motels in Pasig City have jacked up their prices for the Valentine's weekend.
Radio dzBB's Louie Garcia reported that in Dangwa in Manila, flower vendors increased prices of short-stemmed roses from P10 to P30 per piece.
Long-stemmed rose arrangements, which include two dozens of red, white and pink roses, sold for up to P500. The short-stemmed arrangements sold for P250.
Imported roses sold for P100 per piece, while tulips sold for P300 in three-piece arrangements.
Meanwhile, taxi drivers near some motels in Pasig City made arrangements with motel management to bring passengers between the motels and specified points, for prearranged fees, the report said.
The contracted fare would be higher than the metered rate.- GMANews.TV
