Joc-Joc prodded to run for congressman in 2010 - report

MANILA, Philippines - Despite his negative reputation in Metro Manila, former agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn Bolante is being pushed to run for congressman in his home province in 2010. Online news site The News Today (www.thenewstoday.info) reported Tuesday that "supporters" are egging Bolante, alleged brains of a P728-million fertilizer scam, to run next year. Bolante, who is based in the first district of Capiz province, met with friends and supporters for lunch last Friday in Villa Patria in Roxas City. The report said Bolante hails from the second district, but his wife hails from the first district, and he also has pieces of property in President Roxas town in the first district. It also cited sources who said Bolante frequently visits his hometown in Dao and also visits several towns in the first district to consult local political leaders. But the report said Bolante has yet to confirm his plan for next year's election. - GMANews.TV
