Cool weather in RP almost over – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines – Filipinos may soon expect warmer days as northern monsoon or Amihan winds bringing the cool weather slowly leave the country, state weather forecasters said Wednesday. In an interview on dzBB radio, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa) weather bureau chief Nathaniel Cruz said they may release an advisory before the end of February signaling the start of warmer weather. "Talagang dapat asahan na natin na di na natin mararamdaman yung malamig na temperatura na naranasan noong Enero at unang bahagi ng Pebrero. Bago matapos ang Pebrero, maglalabas tayo ng kaukulang advisory na tapos na yung kabanata ng hanging Amihan at simula na yung kabanata nugn sinasabi nilang summer season," Cruz said. ["Filipinos should expect that the cold weather, which we experienced in January and during the start of February, is almost over. Before this month ends, we will release a notice that the northeast monsoon winds have stopped blowing, ushering in the start of the summer season."] Cruz, however, said that the tail of the cold front may continue to bring rains to the country during the next few days. "Sa Bicol, Samar, Leyte, eastern Mindanao, sa kanila may mga pag-ulan pa rin [It is still raining over Bicol region, in Samar and Leyte provinces, and in eastern Mindanao]," he also noted. - GMANews.TV
