DTI exec says LPG supply back to normal

MANILA, Philippines — The supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is, finally, back to normal. This was the assurance of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Wednesday after the country experienced an LPG shortage for almost a month. GMA News' Julius Segovia reported over QTV's Balitanghali that DTI officials took rounds in several LPG outlets in Cubao, Quezon City about 11 a.m. From what they saw, DTI Undersecretary Angel Pelayo said LPG supply has normalized and it would be impossible for the retailers to take advantage of the situation because there is enough supply already. Pelayo added that LPG prices are even expected to go down by March. As of posting time, the price of an 11-kilo LPG tank plays around P512 to P560. Petron Corp. sells their LPG at P512 to P525 per 11/kg cylinder, while Pilipinas Shell sells it as P545 to P560. Total Phil.'s LPG prices range from P520 to P540 while the members of the LPG Marketers' Association (LPGMA) sells its LPG products at P555. Pelayo also disclosed that an LPG outlet in Arayat, Quezon City is even selling its cylinders comparably lower than the suggested retail price. - Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV
