Donaire resumes Baguio training for Martinez fight


MANILA, Philippines – Nonito Donaire Jr. heads back to Baguio to resume his training for his March 22 title defense against Raul Martinez at the Araneta Coliseum. This will be the final stage of Donaire’s preparations in order to make sure of successfully defending his International Boxing Federation (IBF) and International Boxing Organization (IBO) titles against the unbeaten Martinez. The Peñalosa brothers – Gerry, who is fresh from beating German Meraz, and brothers Jonathan and Dodie Boy – are training Donaire. Donaire, who idolizes Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, said he is confident of defending his IBF and IBO flyweight title belts. “I have no doubt and I am confident I am would come out victorious." The Donaire-Martinez fight is one of the two title bouts in the March 22 double-header dubbed The Flash and The Furious. Brian Villoria is the other featured fighter. “I’m taking this seriously. So come March I’m really excited to come out there and showcase my talent," said Villoria, who will challenge reigning IBF light flyweight champion Ulisis Solis for the crown. – GMANews.TV
