MILF claims Abu Sayyaf got high-powered firearms

MANILA, Philippines — Abu Sayyaf militants recently received high-powered guns including bazookas from unknown sources, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) claimed on Friday. An article on the MILF website (www.luwaran.net) said the firearms shipment included nine bazookas, four 90mm recoilless rifles (mounting gun), five 57mm RR, and several small arms. It said these firearms are now in the hands of ASG under Commander Akmad Jumdail, a.k.a. Commander Dr. Abu, who is holding the three staff of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Sulu province. The MILF said it is still validating the report, which it said failed to specify the source of the firearms. "But in the past, the ASG had procured their firearms including big guns from unscrupulous members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)," it said. - GMANews.TV
