SMB sits out import vs Alaska

MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel played Alaska without an import in Wednesday night’s Motolite-PBA Fiesta Cup game after the Beermen’s Nate Carter failed to get a clearance from his mother ballclub in France. Team management learned about the matter hours before the Beermen’s duel with the Aces and opted not to field in the 6-foot-5 import. The 26-year old Carter last played in France for St. Etienne, which reportedly had yet to issue a playing clearance for him. San Miguel sports director Robert Non said the Beermen are already looking at a short list of imports just in case Carter still fails to get his clearance in the team’s next game. Carter was a University of Oklahoma stalwart who was once adjudged Most Valuable Player (MVP) while suiting up as import for a club team in Israel. –GMANews.TV
