Report: NPA leader's daughter seized in Davao

MANILA, Philippines - Armed men abducted a daughter of a New People's Army (NPA) commander in Davao City Wednesday night, a radio report said Thursday. Radio dzBB's Davao affiliate reported that the men blocked the path of the pedicab carrying Rubielyn Pitao in Toril district at 7:20 p.m. The men forced the girl, an intern at St. Peter's College, into a white Revo-type vehicle and sped off toward an unknown direction. Rebelyn's mother Evangeline, whose husband Leoncio Pitao is a local New People's Army commander, said she suspects soldiers were behind the abduction. Evangeline said soldiers had been frustrated with her husband, a.k.a. Commander Parago, because of the NPA's operations in the area. She appealed to the abductors to release Rebelyn, who she said is innocent and should not be dragged into the mess.- GMANews.TV
