2 killed, 1 hurt in motorcycle accidents in Metro - reports


MANILA, Philippines - Two people were killed and another was seriously injured in two separate motorcycle accidents in the cities of Marikina and Caloocan before dawn Friday, radio reports said. In Marikina City, radio dzBB’s Denver Trinidad reported that Michael Tan, 34, was killed while his girlfriend Roselyn Magsalin, 26, was seriously wounded after a truck hit their motorcycle. Tan died on the spot while Magsalin also suffered head and brain injuries, even as doctors said they may have to amputate her leg. At the time of the accident, Magsalin was not wearing a crash helmet, the report said. Police took into custody Ildefonso Magnaye, the driver of the 10-wheeler truck that hit the motorcycle at the corner of Bayan-Bayanan Avenue and Gen. Ordoñez Street. Magnaye surrendered to authorities after the incident. He faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious physical injuries. Police said initial investigation showed the victims came from a drinking spree before the accident. In Caloocan City, radio dzBB’s Roland Bola reported that Daniel Dave Panganiban was killed after figuring in an accident with a dump truck. The incident occurred along Quirino Highway, when Panganiban was thrown off his motorcycle, and was run over by a dump truck. Police arrested the driver of the dump truck, initially identified as Dory Andos. - GMANews.TV
