Melligen KOs Mexican foe in Colorado

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino prospect Mark Jason Melligen knocked out Mexican Gerardo Cesar Prieto in five rounds of their 8-round lightwelterweight fight on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) in “The Mile High Throwdown III" in Commerce City, Colorado. Making his first fight in the US, Melligen pounded on Prieto right from the opening bell, sending his foe to the canvas in the third round and eventually forcing him to throw in the towel at the start of the sixth. With the win, Melligen, a former amateur standout who’s training at the famous Roger Mayweather gym, improved to 13-1 with 10 knockouts. Prieto, who usually fights in the super middleweight class, slipped to 6-6-1, losing for the third time in his last four fights. –GMANews.TV
