New RP honorary consul for Toulouse takes oath


MANILA, Philippines - As he took his oath, the new Philippine honorary consul to Toulouse in France promised to promote the welfare of Filipino workers while promoting the Philippines' tourist attractions. Guy Alain Lafont de Sentenac made the pledge during his oath-taking last Feb. 26, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. "The Philippine Honorary Consul in Toulouse aims to help promote closer economic and cultural ties between the Philippines and the Midi Pyrenées region of France. The region is host to several high tech industries, particularly the aerospatial industry. The Airbus headquarters is based in Toulouse," the DFA said. Philippine Ambassador to France Rora Navarro Tolentino administered the oath of office to the new honorary consul. Lafont de Sentenac also informed Tolentino he will actively promote the Philippines as a tourism destination and will keenly explore trade opportunities for the Philippines. "The Philippine Honorary Consul is likewise ready to provide necessary assistance to Filipinos in the region. Toulouse is near Lourdes, a famous pilgrim destination visited by a huge number of Filipinos every year," the DFA said. Lafont de Sentenac is a lawyer by profession and was a former university law professor. - GMANews.TV
