Date of Mancao’s return to RP to be kept secret – DOJ chief

MANILA, Philippines - Citing “security" reasons, the Justice Department said it will keep secret the exact date of the return of former Senior Superintendent Cezar Mancao II to the country from the US. Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez said Wednesday this is part of their security plan for Mancao, who he said had requested his department for protection. “At saka we will not reveal when he is coming back. It’s part of the security precautions. Hindi naman pwede ilagay sa La Salle at sa madre yan, ang isang high-profile na uuwi," Gonzalez said in an interview on dwIZ radio. [We will not reveal when he is coming back. It’s part of the security precautions. I cannot put such a high-profile person in La Salle Greenhills under the care of nuns]. Earlier, Gonzalez said Mancao had executed an affidavit naming personalities who supposedly ordered the killing of publicist Salvador Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in 2000. Gonzalez said he has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to provide Mancao such protection, adding he is waiting for the US to advise him when Mancao will be turned over. “I will be sending a team of NBI agents to the us the moment they tell us when," he said. - GMANews.TV
