Visayan pugs show wares in ABAP meet


MANILA, Philippines – Aspiring boxers from the Visayas get to show their wares when compete in the 1st Smart/ABAP Area Boxing Tournament on March 22-27 in Ormoc City and Kananga town in Leyte. Young pugilists from over 25 boxing teams representing the different provinces, cities and municipalities all over the Visayas, led by powerhouse Bacolod City, take the ring in a bid to get noticed and possibly make it to the national team someday. Offering competitions in two categories, kids (11 to 12-years-old) and youth (under 19-years-old), the tournament is designed to “give our aspiring boxers in the countryside all the opportunities to surface and be recognized and hopefully, be part of the national pool," according to ABAP president Ricky Vargas. –GMANews.TV
