Hamilton on the way out as Purefoods import?

MANILA, Philippines - Good as he is, Brian Hamilton’s job as Purefoods import remains uncertain. Giants management has not discounted plans of tapping the services again of former Best Import Marquin Chandler once the former San Jose State mainstay becomes available. Chandler is currently playing in the Korean Basketball League where he dons the Anyang KT&G Kites team. “Sana hindi umabot ang team niya sa Finals," said Purefoods governor Rene Pardo. Hamilton, the silent but hardworking import of the Giants, posted the PBA Fiesta Conference’s first triple double in his debut against Talk `N Text. But after winning their first two outings, Purefoods has lost twice in a row, the last time against Alaska, 94-84, where Hamilton finished with only 10 points and had five turnovers. Chandler steered the Giants to the Finals of the 2006-07 Fiesta Conference. Although he bested James Penny for the Best Import award, Purefoods lost the title series to Red Bull (now Barako Bull) in six games. A second tour of duty with the franchise came the following year, but with injury bothering him, Chandler was just a shadow of the explosive player Purefoods had in the past. But with the way he’s been playing in the KBL, it seems Chandler is back to his old deadly form. He currently averages 25.6 points and 8.7 rebounds, while shooting 54.2 percent from the field. -GMANews.TV
