No strong evidence to implicate Erap in Dacer slay - DoJ chief

MANILA, Philippines - There is no strong evidence to implicate former President Joseph Estrada in the abduction and killing of publicist Salvador "Bubby" Dacer, and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in November 2000, according to Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez. Gonzalez said Estrada's name was not categorically mentioned in the affidavit of former police official Cezar Mancao II who claimed that it was former Senior Superintendent Michael Ray Aquino who ordered Dacer "neutralized." “There was a mention of ‘Bigote, (but) that’s all. But kung talagang [But if] you just want to make trouble for him (Estrada), you can stretch that story… It’s not strong, unless you want me to inject something there," he said on Monday when asked by media if Estrada was mentioned in Mancao’s affidavit. Gonzalez could be referring to another document signed by Mancao. In the March 1, 2007 affidavit, Mancao did not mention about “Bigote." While Estrada's name was mentioned in the affidavit, Mancao did not implicate Estrada in the twin killings. According to the secretary, he keeps two copies of Mancao’s affidavit, one of which is in a vault in a Metrobank branch in Iloilo, Gonzalez’s home province. - GMANews.TV
