UK's former Prime Minister Tony Blair arrives in RP


MANILA, Philippines – Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair arrived in the Philippines Sunday morning, a report on dzBB radio said. Blair arrived via a private plane at the Villamor Airbase and was escorted by personnel from the Presidential Security Group (PSG). Authorities refused to disclose where Blair is currently staying for security. On Monday morning, he is slated to speak at a forum called "The Leader as a Nation Builder in a Time of Globalization" at the Ateneo de Manila University, which is marking its 150th anniversary this year with the theme "Building the Nation." Blair will meet with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for a luncheon meeting at Malacañang. Afterwards, he will attend a forum called "Tony Blair in Manila: The Leader as Principled Negotiator" at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City. Blair served as prime minister of the United Kingdom from March 1997 to June 2007.
