Lacson: Mancao assured me of his loyalty

MANILA, Philippines – Former police Senior Superintendent Cezar Mancao II assured opposition Sen. Panfilo Lacson of his loyalty in a text message he supposedly sent to the senator in 2008.
In a report on QTV’s Balitanghali, GMA News’ Claire Delfin on Monday said Lacson’s lawyers bared Mancao’s text message indicating that he will refuse any possible offer in exchange for implicating Lacson in the killing of publicist Salvador “Bubby" Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito.
“Ur ryt [you’re right] sir…I was hoping I can contribute something 2 propel u [to propel you] at the end. Rest assured of my loyalty. I will desist the tempttn [temptation]. Sleep soundly sir," states the text message Mancao supposedly sent to Lacson on Jan.4, 2008
The “temptation" was supposedly the offer of Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (Isafp) chief Major General Romeo Prestoza to reinstate and promote Mancao if he would implicate Lacson in the abduction and killing Dacer and Corbito in 2000.
GMA News tried but failed to contact Prestoza for comment.
Lacson said that he did not intend to disclose Mancao’s text message “but I’m compelled to bring it out in order to counter other forces that have taken advantage of his predicament and his weakness to use him against me."
While maintaining his innocence on the Dacer-Corbito twin killings, the senator stood by his claim that the latest developments – including the supposed leak of Mancao’s affidavit linking him to the killings – might be part of a demolition job against him.
Without elaborating, Lacson said that the imminent extradition of Mancao and former police Superintendent Glenn Dumlao from the United States smacked of politics because the move happened just as he was about to make an exposé against President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Malacañang had repeatedly denied having a hand in efforts for the extradition of Mancao and Dumlao, in the “leak" of supposed Mancao affidavit implicating Lacson, and even in alleged moves to drag the senator into the killings.
“To insist that Malacañang is behind (moves against Lacson) is pure and simple squid tactics. Let the [pieces of] evidence speak for themselves and let the accused controvert them," Remonde said in a text message to GMANews.TV. - Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV
