Burger King stalwart is week's best

MANILA, Philippines - For helping Burger King post two consecutive wins with his pivotal games, Arwind Santos was chosen as the PBA Press Corps’ Player of the Week for the period March 16 to 22. The 6-foot-4 forward averaged 23 points, eight rebounds and 2.5 assists in the Burger King's 123-110 triumph over the Barako Bull and 127-109 win against Coca-Cola, helping the Burger Kings occupy the top two spots in the Fiesta Conference. “This is the best I’ve seen him play in the PBA, so his upside is enormous, even scary dahil ngayon pa lang siya nag-ma-mature," said Burger King coach Yeng Guiao regarding Santos. “The only thing he really needs to improve on is his decision-making," added Guiao. “But he has all the talent and skills to assert himself as one of the dominant PBA players in the years to come and I assure you this will not be his last Player of the Week award." Guiao said that Santos is evolving into an all-around player and this is the reason why despite playing for just 30 minutes, Santos is posting desirable numbers. “In my system you must sacrifice your scoring role, but not the other aspects. Siya he does it all, kaya for him to come up with those points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks while also defending tells a lot," Guiao noted. “The numbers he comes up with are usually for players who see action for 40 minutes, kaya we can rightfully say his efficiency level is talagang mataas," he added. -GMANews.TV
