Palace exec: Dumlao bail a ‘setback’ in Dacer-Corbito case

PANGASINAN, Philippines – Malacañang on Tuesday said the Dacer-Corbito double murder case suffered a “temporary setback" when former police Superintendent Glenn Dumlao posted a $100,000 bail to evade his extradition. But despite this, Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said the government is still determined to bring Dumlao back to the country along with former Senior Superintendent Cezar Mancao II to shed light on the killings of noted PR man Salvador “Bubby" Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in 2000. “We'll just call it a temporary setback. We know the quest for justice is always, oftentimes, a difficult one. But this should not discourage us. Justice for Corbito and justice for Dacer is imperative as is to give justice to every Filipino," Remonde said in a chance interview before the Cabinet meeting here. Remonde also admitted that they are curious on who posted bail for Dumlao. Transportation and Communications Assistant Secretary Reynaldo Berroya had earlier accused opposition Senator Panfilo Lacson of helping Dumlao evade his extradition by sending one of his staff to the US to post the bail. Lacson, who was Dumlao’s superior in the police force during the Dacer-Corbito killings, had denied the accusation. - GMANews.TV
