Calzaghe picks Hatton over Pacquiao

MANILA, Philippines – Joe Calzaghe, one of only a handful world champions ever to retire undefeated, likes the chances of fellow British fighter Ricky Hatton against Filipino super star Manny Pacquiao. The Welsh fighter, who retired last month after piling up an immaculate 46-0 card, noted that Hatton’s advantage in size gives him a better shot at winning the mythical pound for pound title against Pacquiao than he did against Floyd Mayweather, Jr. "It's going to be a tough fight for Ricky. But he's got a better chance of beating Manny than against Mayweather," the former supermiddleweight kingpin was quoted in a report by doghouseboxing.com. The Welsh fighter claimed Hatton has the arsenal to get the better of reigning P4P king Pacquiao in their May 2 duel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hatton previously vied for the P4P throne but fumbled against the now retired Mayweather. "Ricky definitely has height advantage (against Pacquiao) so if he can close the range and cut him down he has a great chance of winning," Calzaghe said, adding: "He's got to take his chance. You've got to go for it, plus you can make a fortune." Hatton and Pacquiao are set for an action-packed battle with the “Hitman" staking his International Boxing Organization (IBO) world junior welterweight title. –GMANews.TV
