Ginebra dynamo Tubid earns nod as PBA Player of the Week

MANILA, Philippines - By proving that he is one of the current crop of players with versatile game, Barangay Ginebra’s Ronald Tubid was chosen as the Motolite/Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week honors for the period March 23-30. Tubid showed what he can do inside the court during Saturday's match between the Gin Kings and Barako Bull in the PBA Fiesta Conference. In that game, Tubid scored a career-high 29 points, the same output by import Rod Nealy, giving Ginebra a 111-103 triumph over the Energy Boosters at the Panabo Cultural and Sports Center in Davao. Tubid added four rebounds, two steals and an assist and played the match defending against Barako Bull import Scooter McFadgon in 36 minutes to once again showcase his all-round game. McFagon's 19 points in that Davao sojourn was way, way down his six-game average of 35.3 ppg. “He gave us a lift, making big spot up shots, defending the best he can and making the right decisions," said Ginebra coach Jong Uichico of the former University of the East Warrior. Tubid played that night with just an average of 9.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting just 7-of-34 from beyond the arc. –GMANews.TV
