RP to seek Joma Sison's expulsion from Holland

MANILA, Philippines - The government would ask the Dutch government for the formal expulsion of Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founding chairman Jose Maria Sison to secure his return to the country. This was according to National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales, who said Sison still has to answer for the murder charges filed against him by the families of his former comrades whom he allegedly ordered killed. “We will look into our laws and their (Dutch) laws to find ways to have Sison expelled from Netherlands and back into the country. We will really go after him," he said. Sison, 70, has been in exile in Europe since 1987. He was jailed in the Netherlands in August 2007 on suspicion of ordering two killings in the Philippines. Dutch prosecutors however dropped their murder investigation for lack of evidence. The Philippine government had been trying to get Sison for several years now. Gonzales is confident that the Dutch government would be cooperative in the possible expulsion of Sison. "The fact that it is known in Netherlands that Sison and his comrades have continued to exercise control of the armed communist rebellion in the Philippines from their Dutch base will help Philippine government in its case for his expulsion back to the country," he said. Gonzales also stressed that Sison’s request for asylum in the Netherlands has already been rejected, which he said means that “technically, he is non-existent in the Netherlands." - GMANews.TV
