Sketches of Koronadal blast suspects released

MANILA, Philippines - Police in Central Mindanao on Monday released the cartographic sketches of the two suspects – a male and a female – in last Saturday’s bombing of a passenger bus in Koronadal City. Central Mindanao Police director Chief Superintendent Fidel Cimatu said they have already distributed the sketches to all police stations in the region to expedite the arrest of the suspects. Cimatu said the male suspect was described by witnesses as having a regular built, stands more or less 5’2", weighs about 45 kilos, and allegedly rode the same Husky Bus from Cotabato City. “He was seen carrying a bundle of papers when he boarded," the police official said. The female suspect, meanwhile, was described as having a boyish look, with a large built and fair complexion, about 5’2" in height, and weighs more or less 60 kilos. She was also seen carrying a bundle of papers. Cimatu said the information on the two alleged bombers further corroborated the result of the initial investigation that two bombs were planted in the same bus. The first improvised explosive device went off at around 10 a.m. at the bus terminal while the second one exploded four hours later. The explosions prompted Cimatu to place the entire police forces in Central Mindanao under heightened alert status on Sunday. The official, however, said they still have no information as to the group affiliation of the suspected bombers. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Central Mindanao is a known stomping ground of Moro rebels, who have been blamed in several bombing incidents on civilian targets in the past. - GMANews.TV
