TV crew’s presence doesn’t affect Pacquiao’s focus

MANILA, Philippines – Even the presence of several television crews inside the Wild Card Gym won’t affect Manny Pacquiao’s focus as he enters the final three weeks of training for his scheduled May 2 (May 3 in Manila) bout against Ricky Hatton. While training at Freddie Roach’s popular gym in Los Angeles’ glitzy Hollywood, a crew from HBO has been filming Pacquiao’s every move for another 24/7 series that will be shown in the giant cable network in time for the Battle of East vs West at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Aside from HBO, GMA Network’s TV crew has also been following Pacquiao wherever he goes. Pacquiao is a contract star of GMA 7 hosting a show with collegiate basketball star Chris Tiu, Pinoy Records, and also appears in a daily soap opera, Totoy Bato. Pacquiao wrote in his column at Philboxing.com that he could not blame the TV crew’s of the two networks since his fans want to know the latest update in his training. He has also reached 10 rounds against his three sparring partners – Mike Alvarado, Tito Serrano and WBC world No. 3 contender Urbano Antillon. Pacquiao’s sparmates have been imitating Hatton’s style in order to familiarize himself with the Hitman’s moves inside the ring. Pacquiao also went in the City of San Pedro to undergo a routine medical check up before the fight where renowned neurologist Dr. Richard S. Gluckman gave him a clean bill of health. Pacquiao returns to Wild Card Gym to continue his scheduled training on Holy Thursday where he also plans to spar to remain in condition. Team Pacquiao is set to leave for Las Vegas by the last week of April for their final leg of preparation for the Filipino boxing icon’s fight against Hatton. – GMANews.TV
