Report: Baguio, Cruz want out of Burger King

MANILA, Philippines – Cyrus Baguio and Celino Cruz were instant starters for Yeng Guiao’s successful Red Bull squad last year. However, they were relegated to relievers when they were traded to the Burger King Whoppers this season. The two players are now unhappy and they are reportedly asking their team to be traded to another squad, thru their agent Danny Espiritu. Espiritu, a well-known agent in the Philippine Basketball Association, has reportedly served as broker for teams interested on his wards’ services. Burger King team manager Lito Alvarez said he will not stop the players’ wishes to look for other teams. But the incoming PBA chairman made it clear that he will not be the one to initiate such action in respect to coach Yeng Guiao. “Mga players talaga kasi yan ni coach Yeng, so nakakahiya if I will be the one to initiate such trade," said Alvarez. “I think they’re manager is the one brokering with other teams." “In reality, Baguio and Cruz are not our original players. It was Mikee Romero who got them in, but I believe they’re helping our team in any way. Still, if they’re not happy, then what can we do," he added. But Alvarez said Guiao will find an immediate solution to the problem. “Sabi ni coach siya na ang bahala and malaki naman tiwala ko sa kanya." It was earlier reported that Baguio and Cruz were being eyed by the Ginebra Gin Kings, a move that was squelched immediately by the Whoppers management. The Gin Kings are still waiting for the arrival of Mark Caguioa, who is still in the U.S. trying to recover from a knee injury. His absence has caused great misfortunes to Ginebra, which has only two wins in seven games. – GMANews.TV
