11 Vietnamese arrested off Batanes waters

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities arrested at least 11 crewmembers of a Vietnamese fishing vessel intercepted off Batanes province in Northern Luzon, a radio report said Friday. Radio dzRH cited belated police reports indicating the Vietnamese vessel, with number 39879, was intercepted as early as last Wednesday. Police under Batanes provincial chief Senior Superintendent Eduardo Castillejos Jr. intercepted the vessel off Itbayat town, the report said. Investigation showed the 11 crewmembers, all from Vietnam, were taking corals and marine resources from the waters using compressors. - GMANews.TV
