Pagasa: Expect more rains Monday

MANILA, Philippines - Following Sunday night's rains, residents in Metro Manila can expect more rains Monday afternoon and evening, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Monday. Pagasa head Prisco Nilo said the tail-end of a cold front that caused Sunday night's rains is still affecting Metro Manila and parts of Central and Southern Luzon. "Maaring magkaroon muli ng pag-ulan mamayang hapon o di kaya bandang gabi. Naroon pa ang cold front [There will likely be rains in the afternoon and evening]," he said in an interview on dzXL radio. However, he said temperatures will still be hot. Nilo also said this is a manifestation of global warming or climate change. Earlier, Pagasa said rains loom over parts of the country due to a tail-end of a cold front affecting Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas, and an inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Mindanao. "Central and Southern Luzon and the Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms while Mindanao including Palawan will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. Light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast and southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the northeast and northwest over Mindanao, it said. Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, it added. - GMANews.TV
