Chemtrad plane crash victims' bodies recovered

Bayombong, Philippines - All seven bodies from the ill-fated Chemtrad plane have been finally recovered, according to police. Combined elements from the Philippine Army's 17th Infantry Battalion, Baggao police, Bureau of Fire protection in Kalinga and other volunteers have retried the victims' remains from the wreckage. Region 2 police director Chief Supt. Roberto Damian said all the embalmed remains, which were put inside body bags, would be airlifted on Tuesday to Tuguegarao airport. Members of the ground team had a hard time getting near the wreckage due to the foul smell of the decomposing bodies, according to Damian. Relatives of the victims have asked authorities to allow them to help in the operation but phycisians from the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council prevented them due to health concerns. The plane left Tuguegarao airport on April 2 enroute to Isabela's coastal town of Maconacon, but the aircraft crashed in the heavily forested mountain in Baggao, Cagayan. - GMANews.TV
