Adamson faces winless Lyceum in Sunday’s V-League showdown

MANILA, Philippines – Adamson tries to get back to its winning form when it plays winless Lyceum in the 6th Shakey’s V-League at the FilOil-Flying V Arena in San Juan City Sunday. The Lady Falcons, champions in the first conference of last year’s fifth season, opened their title-retention bid with an impressive victory over Ateneo-OraCare but University of Santo Tomas spoiled that triumph with a four-set decision last Thursday. The San Marcelino-based squad will be squaring off with the Lady Pirates in the 2:00 p.m. opener without guest player and reigning most valuable player Nerissa Bautista, who is currently playing in an international beach volley tournament in Vietnam. That should give Lyceum some advantage as it seeks to bounce back from consecutive setbacks. College of Saint Benilde, meanwhile, aims to follow-up its five-set victory over University of the Philippines when they face fellow NCAA finalist San Sebastian at 4:00 p.m. The Lady Stags started the conference with an opening day loss to UST. CSB coach Thelma Barina-Rojas hopes to draw the best again from guest player Maureen Penetrante and mainstays Cindy Velasquez, Giza Yumang, Joy Mulingtapang, Zharmaine Velez and Kara Agero as they go up against a team teeming with talent. The Lady Stags will have the core of last conference’s champion team headed by Suzanne Roces, Rysabelle Devanadera, Charisse Ancheta, Analyn Benito, Margarita Pepito, and Laurence Ann Latigay. – GMANews.TV
